As an elected member of the Auckland District Health Board for my fourth term I am involved in all aspects of Board Governance. I am a Registered nurse, having worked in various clinical and managerial roles in the Health sector for the last 32 years.
Currently I am working as a Professional Teaching Fellow in the Undergraduate Nursing School at the University of Auckland. This term I have elected to spread my wings move out of my comfort zone and join the Audit and Finance Committee, which believe me is an eye opener. The other areas of interest and importance to me are Older Persons’ Health and Disability.
I believe it is essential to maintain a public health service which delivers a high standard of care to our people. This believe, is a fundamental role of the District Health Board.
The Nursing Profession needs to have a voice at Board level to ensure patient advocacy is maintained. I am a strong campaigner for nursing and for all members of our community
