Mike Lee is an independent – City Vision endorsed
Mike Lee outspoken councillor marked ‘A’ in Herald survey. As ARC chairman, Mike led major expansion of regional parks, ensured port 100% publicly owned, began urban renewal of Wynyard Quarter, opened Queens wharf to public, led rail revival and electrification, opposes harbour reclamation, supports CRL, light rail and is battling for future trains to airport. ‘I voted against Council’s latest rates rise because of hugely wasteful expenditure on IT system and flash council accommodation.
Too many planning decisions are non-notified; too many of our historic buildings are being destroyed; the government-imposed Unitary Plan will overload infrastructure and degrade Auckland’s environment without guaranteeing affordable homes. Council needs to get back to basic values of public service, be more open, have a no surprises policy with the public, and stop spending so much ratepayers’ money on itself. I will continue to work with Local Boards for the people of Waitemata & Gulf.
