The draft plan has been developed by a working group of representatives from the Waitematā Local Board, iwi, community groups, stakeholders and the Ponsonby Business Association. It sets out a vision for improving Ponsonby Road over the next 30 years. The Board is seeking public feedback on the draft masterplan from 24 July to 4 September 2013.
Various consultation events will be held over the coming weeks. The launch is an opportunity for the Board to thank those who have played a significant part so far and present you with a copy of the draft masterplan document.
What: Draft Ponsonby Road Masterplan launch
Where: Ponsonby Community Centre, Ponsonby Terrace
When: Friday 26 July 2013 (11.30am-12.30pm)
RSVP: to Alana Thurston [email protected] or call 09 353 9654.
Its an absolute essential that parking remains the same in Ponsonby. Its diabolical as it is let alone with the council coming in and interfering with their ‘BIG’ ideas.
Also reducing the road lanes to two seems absurd. Have they thought about the consequences this would make… certainly not it seems.

Waitemata Local Board, Keep up the good work as a “TEAM” just as you did with the Three Lamps project.
Ponsonby has a very rich history that should be preserved for future generations and to attract more Tourists.
One possible idea to consider is to start a photo liberary by scanning as many old photos of Ponsonby onto a web site where those with sanners can add theirs and those without can take their old photos to a site for scanning.
Those interested could bring these photo’s up on this web site used to promote The Ponsonby area.
This idea is not a new one but it is a start just as we did with The Three Lamps project where many of us saw first hand how some of the old cities of Europe were rebuilt after WW11 and how they gathered old photos into a central liberary.
Please keep up with your efforts on this and also keep looking at ways of upgrading the Pt Erin Pool complex.
As a young lifegaurd instructor I taught many a new Royal and surf Lifegaurd in these pools in the late 1960’s
