Today is Suffrage Day celebrating 123 years since women won the right to vote. It is a day to acknowledge the brave suffragists and all those who have subsequently fought for women’s rights. Today is also a day to reflect on how much there still is to do to achieve real gender equality for all women here and globally.

The City Vision team will be joining the NCW Auckland Branch, Mayor Len Brown, Deputy Mayor Penny Hulse and special guest to celebrate Suffrage Day 2016 at lower Khartoum Place.   The event will be preceded by a Renaming Ceremony of the site of the Women’s Suffrage Memorial 1893 – 1993 Women Achieve the Vote.  All are welcome.
