I am a public health policy specialist, recently retired from Auckland University where I taught and researched in the Faculty of Medical and Health Sciences for 35 years. I feel I have much to offer the Board, drawing on my expertise in these areas.
I was a member of the Auckland Hospital Board as it became a Health Board in the late 1980s. Some things have changed since then, but Auckland’s need for excellent health services has not, especially in achieving health equity across our communities.
My time as a member of the Auckland Regional Council informs another aim: to increase collaboration with social services.
My main areas of interest are in reporting and using information on the performance of our health system, so that we can better fund and operate it in constrained financial circumstances.
