I’ve been very fortunate to be supported by my community to represent them on the Puketāpapa Local Board for twelve years, and now at the regional level for Albert-Eden-Puketāpapa as a councillor since October 2022. I have a strong track record of working for a child-friendly Auckland, focusing on equity, climate action, transport choice and housing. I support strong community input to decision-making, and champion local voices at the council table.
As an elected member I’ve learned to collaborate with people who hold different views to find agreement. I’m clear about my values and priorities, and I have a record of working with others to make positive changes, in local government, early childhood education and women’s health. I understand that a lot of the job is reading and listening, and asking good questions, and the need to make hard decisions for our future.
My priorities include
- supporting real action on climate change, to mitigate and adapt; otherwise the future is very grim.
- improving decision-making processes to help communities make real change
- advocating for the compact city model to house everyone and reduce carbon emissions.
