City Vision are strong supporters of the Licensing Trusts. Two of our three candidates are current trustees for the Portage Licensing Trust Ward 1 (Auckland City). The number 1 ward represents the communities of Waterview, Owairaka, Avondale, New Windsor, Glenavon, Blockhouse Bay and part of Mt Albert. We bring experience and vision to the Trusts.
The Trusts is a community-owned business and we are proud to be able to ‘give back’ significant profits into the communities we represent, whilst running the business. Over the last 3 years, we have granted $3m back into community groups and organisations and another $2m to the Well Foundation to renovate SBCU at Waitakere Hospital. We are working towards bringing through a Living Wage for all staff and continue to focus on providing safe, attractive venues, local employment and a socially responsible business.
Our candidates:
Catherine Farmer
As a current Portage Trustee and long term Avondale resident Catherine advocates for the Living Wage to be paid to every Trust employee while maintaining profits to continue community distributions through our annual Million Dollar Mission. Her priorities include sound financial management of the Trusts and minimizing social harm.

Margi has been a member of the Portage Licensing Trust for the last 3 years. She has a strong record in goverance including as Chair of the Waterview School Board, Deputy Chair of Northern Health Schools and on Avondale Intermediate’s Board. Margi has a background as a nurse and as an advocate for positive community outcomes.
Kurt Taogaga
Kurt lives in New Windsor with his young family. Living and working in the Portage area, he is a strong local advocate, supporting projects and infrastructure that promote thriving communities. He has a background in education and sports club management and is currently completing his Masters in International Business
