As we wrap for the summer break we’d like to share with you the year in review from each of our WaitematāAlbert-Eden and Puketāpapa Local Board teams.

2023 has been full of highlights but also some significant challenges. Storms and Cyclone Gabrielle were particularly traumatic for many of our communities and a large number of residents are still living with uncertainty.  Cr Julie Fairey has been working with the local boards on the recovery from floods and landslides. In November she hosted a Storm Water and Climate Resilience webinar available to watch here.

As our councillor on the governing body, Julie is working with other progressives to ensure Auckland takes climate action, improves transport and housing choices. She engages with organisations and communities across the Albert-Eden-Puketāpapa ward and is always approachable on any issue. Julie posts regular updates on her extensive council activities on her facebook page.

Early next year we’ll be focused on Auckland Council’s draft Long Term Plan consultation.  City Vision is opposed to the proposed privatisation of the Ports of Auckland.  Look out for our submission guide coming in time for feedback starting on 28 February. Meri Kirihimete!  Best wishes for a safe and happy new year from the City Vision team.
