Our Principles and Policies 

Our candidates and elected members will commit to these policies:

  1. Commitment to Te Tiriti o Waitangi
  2. Strong Local Democracy and community-based democratic decision-making. 
  3. Building a stronger and fairer economy with equity, prosperity, wellbeing and inclusion at the forefront.
  4. Climate action toward a zero carbon future is both city wide, and locally led.
  5. Communities are resourced and empowered to support safety, wellbeing and social connection.
  6. Rates and service charges are fair for all Aucklanders. 
  7. Strategic Assets are owned by Aucklanders, through the Auckland Council family.
  8. Greater transport freedom and choice: improving the frequency, quality, and safety of public transport and walking and cycling, helping to keep our roads flowing.
  9. Environmental sustainability and biodiversity is prioritised and improved. We have more trees, green spaces, and healthy waterways.
  10. More housing choices are nearer to where people want to live, in more affordable, healthy, and secure homes.
  11. Our cultural & natural heritage are protected and enhanced.
  12. There are greater opportunities to access and enjoy events, sport and recreation and the arts.

City Vision’s commitment to all Aucklanders

 

City Vision commits to:  

  • Honouring te Tiriti o Waitangi.
  • Forward-looking decision-making guided by local people and the community voice.
  • Championing a progressive agenda toward a thriving, liveable, inclusive Auckland .
  • Maximising the democratic role in Auckland Council’s decision-making – at all levels.
  • Advocating for greater resourcing, powers, and voice for Auckland representatives in the development of Auckland, particularly with Central Government.
  •  Promoting the principle and practice of localism: Local Boards should make local decisions and elected members should be the voice for local communities.
    In addition we will :     
  • be financially prudent and keep rates as low as practicable; and 
  • Our Councillors will attend and report to their local Board meetings, and elected members actively engage with their local communities.
