Does Wayne Brown even like Auckland? We have a Mayor who doesn't value what makes Auckland vibrant, resilient and welcoming. He doesn't value our libraries, art galleries or events. He has manufactured a financial crisis as an excuse to sell off assets, cut climate action and halve the funding for local boards. There is still time to make a submission on the proposed austerity budget 23/24. Let the Mayor and Councillors know what you value. We think it is important to speak up for paying a fair share in rates to stop the cuts and ensure investment in community services, arts, events and organisationsHere is City Vision's submission guide to give feedback by 11pm on Tuesday 28 March cityvision.org.nz/featured-post/city-visions-guide-to-auckland-councils-annual-budget/Image: The Spinoff's Archi Banal ... If you are at a loose end this evening and haven’t already done so please do submit on the council cuts as they are pretty severe, impacting public transport, community facilities, regional grants, events etc. it is helpful to know what you would prioritise and how you would make ends meet. Your views do make a difference, please do share your thoughts: akhaveyoursay.aucklandcouncil.govt.nz/feedback-forms-annual-budget-2023-2024/survey_tools/annual-...Mayor Wayne Brown and his razor gang are promoting an austerity Annual Budget 23/24 that slashes services and funding. The cuts are massive and in some cases already underway. Everything is impacted from Citizens Advice Bureaus (CABs) to regional services such as community and education programmes, arts and culture programmes, regional events and facilities like the Auckland Art Gallery to cuts to Local Board budgets that may lead to reduced library hours and cuts to environmental programmes and much more (full details in the link)As Tāmaki Makaurau Auckland recovers from the pandemic and devastating weather events there are other options available to council to fill a forecast $295m deficit and maintain investment in the well-being and resilience of our communitiesWe think it is important to speak up for paying a fair share in rates to stop the cuts and ensure investment in community services, arts, events and organisations that make our city vibrant, welcoming and strong. In response to this grim budget here is City Vision’s guide to completing the feedback form. It must be completed no later than 11pm on Tuesday 28 March. cityvision.org.nz/featured-post/city-visions-guide-to-auckland-councils-annual-budget/ ... See MoreSee Less
